 Network Skills Summary
To further my experience in networking application I have assembled a eleven computer network at home. All the computers are custom built by myself using mostly second hand components. I have a mixture of 486 and Pentium, PII, PIII machines. The network uses a Ethernet Architect (10/100) UTP cabling connected to three hubs in a Star Bus topology running the TCP/IP protocol. The networks comprises of a three Domains with two Servers each on the Trusted Domain (a Primary Domain Controller and a Backup Domain Controller using Windows NT 4.0). One computer is configured as a Print Server driving an Epson Laser Printer. The workstations are Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0. Each machine has been configured for dual Operating Systems, booting into MS-Dos 6.22 or Windows. The MS-Dos system is setup for network access using MS Network Client 3.0. Using Microsoft's Self Pace study material I have reconfigured the system several times. I have since taken a five-month course to sit the exams to obtain a MCSE certificate. I have had three Domains in a Trusting Relationship connected by a machine running Windows NT serving as a Router. The present system is set up with Internet Information Service in an Intranet environment soon to have access to the Internet via an ISDN router.
