Welcome, my name is Stephen Roberts
I have been in the computer industry since the mid 1990's. I have held many positions in different aspects of this field from assembling computers, repairing computers and including a technical helpdesk position. In late 1999 I switched my focus from the individual computer to networking in a business environment. I have experience in developing project goals to implement new or upgrading business strategies to provide a more robust tool for accessing the information technologies of today with minimum or no interruption of business activities.
I have the knowledge to plan, research and purchase equipment, software licenses and software programs to meet the needs of a growing business. My expertise lies in building a totally redundant system to ensure that the sensitive data is not loss due to equipment failure. I have experience in data backup technologies and Disaster Recovery Plans. I am security conscience and have training in securing a WAN topology from intrusion. The knowledge I have obtain over the years is the results of my passion for developing and maintaining computer systems and equipment.
I was enrolled at Ivy Tech Community College in Elkhart, Indiana. I completed the requirements and obtain an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems degree. My grade point average was 3.677. I enrolled at Western Governors University pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems but due to personal issues that demanded more of my time I fell behind and made the decision to withdraw from further classes. I completed one semester and obtained two certificates (CIW Web Design and CompTia Network +). To earn the CIW Web Design Professional certification I would need to pass the exam for the CIW E-Commerce Specialist certification. With my current CIW Web Design Specialist certificate I would qualify for the CIW Web Design Professional certificate. I have recently contacted Veterans Affairs and receive permission to continue my education. I have contacted four colleges and have sent my transcript from Ivy Tech to them for a pre-evaluation of transferable credits. Depending on the outcome I will choose the college that will allow me to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in at least two years but not more than three. I have decided to change my major and pursue the Information Technology degree with a concentration in Database Programming.
